"During the 19 years that I have taught at John Oliver Secondary, I have taught a wide array of subjects from English to Special Education to Media Arts, and, yes, IDS. The fair took root when I was teaching IDS for the first time with Mr. Damian Wilmann. One day I had students brainstorm on how to present their passion projects. Alexis King said that she thought we should do it science fair style, and the rest, as they say, the rest is all history!"

Although Mr. Spence has moved to the District office as Vice-Principal of LIT, he is still an important part of the John Oliver Community. Mr. Spence has always taught students to challenge their thinkings, expand their curiosity and to stay inspired. Enjoy this video made by Mr. Spence in hopes of igniting your resilience.
