Gazal: Upcycling Clothes
I'm Gazal and for my IDS project, I wanted to sell upcycled clothes on a shopping app called "Depop". With the COVID-19 pandemic going on right now, I made the decision to donate the clothing instead of selling it to help people who may not be able to spend much money on new clothing right now. This is my IDS 2020 video - a project to learn and grow using python, and C++, and learning how to use Arduino IDE's. The final product is a translator using python and various apis, using purely voice activated commands to translate to other languages. |

Caleb: Calisthenics
When I declared my goals for some of my skills I knew that some of them were going to take longer than IDS. I wanted to make this my IDS because it was a great way to get myself actually start working out. At the beginning it was hard to do every workout but I tried my best not to miss any and over time they became easier, but don’t get me wrong their are some harder days. To conclude I really enjoyed this project, though I didn’t complete all my skills I made more progress on others than I thought and I learned a lot about discipline. I hope you enjoy my video. |

I always strive to push myself on my IDS projects, and emphasize maintaining learning and growth throughout the course of my projects. My growth in interests and motivations over the last five years can be showcased from my variety of projects, ranging from those surrounding bookbinding and architecture, social sciences and politics, and human genetics. |
Owen: Implementing Ideas in a Political Setting
My IDS focuses on implementing ideas in a political setting, and attempting to push ideas through with a willing MLA. I had help from Micheal Lee, the MLA of the Vancouver-Langara constituency. We initially set out to try and implement an idea myself and a couple of my friends came up with to counter online extremism. Coronavirus and other factors have lead to that falling through and since then I have been working with him as a member of the YAC (Youth Advisory Council), I have helped with a clothing drive and I was the first member of the YAC to take part in a mental health initiative, where we provide people with ways to helm themselves during these troubled times. Mehtab: Making a Bow and Arrow
For my IDS this year, I learned how to shoot a bow and arrow. Unfortunately. The class I was taking was cancelled and I no longer had a bow. This led me to focus on making an arrow. I ended up making an arrow out of hardwood that I had lying around the house so that I didn't have to leave the house and get supplies. |
